The Love Attitudes Scale (Short Form) is a 24-item questionnaire by Hendrick, Hendrick, and Dicke (1998) based on Lee's six colors of love. It describes how you tend to approach romantic love — not whether love is "right" or "wrong."
What it measures
Each of the six styles is scored as the mean of 4 items on a 1–5 scale (higher = stronger endorsement):
- Eros — passionate, romantic love
- Ludus — playful, game-playing love
- Storge — friendship-based love
- Pragma — practical, "shopping list" love
- Mania — possessive, dependent love
- Agape — selfless, all-giving love
Your report shows all six styles. People often endorse more than one style. Reference bands on each mean: low below 2.5, moderate 2.5–3.49, high 3.5 and above. This is an educational self-reflection tool, not a diagnosis.
