Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to perceive, understand, use, and manage emotions — in yourself and others — to guide thinking and behavior.
Definition
Emotional intelligence describes a set of emotional skills including recognizing emotions, understanding what they mean, using them to support thinking, and regulating them effectively. Unlike a fixed trait, these skills can be developed. The SSEIT measures self-reported emotional intelligence.
